Hi. I'm Lauren. I'm currently 16 years old and I live in a suberb outside New York City.
I'm a senior in high school (I'm a bit young for my grade) and...
I'm sorry... I really have no idea what to say. I actually just spent the last hour googling what to include in a first blog post, but they always give such stereotipical answers... Be yourself! Use good grammar! Whatever to do, don't start with "Hi my name is..."!! Sorry... kinda didn't listen to that last one...
My title! That's something I can talk about! I bet the majority of you reading this are like "What the heck does 'Not so B flat' mean??"
I'm a musician. I've been playing the trombone since the fourth grade, which adds up to... 8 years. So I think that I'm pretty good. Anyway, it's a common thing for jazz musicians to call something "B flat" if it's too bland or boring. I could explain this into further detail, but it would require a knowledge of music theory that I'm not quite sure you would be interested in... But if I stand corrected, just shoot me a message.
There's one thing that I will always think is true about myself: As much as I would like to say that I have the most interesting life in the world, I don't. I'm an average high school girl who deals with average problems. But I really try to do interesting things with my life in order to not be boring. Because it's definitly not a compliment to be called B flat.
Just to give you a fair warning, I may at any time randomly go off into music-related rants or stuff that may not make any sense. Like just the other day, my friend drew a mascot for our AP music theory class. (Well, not our's. I'm technically not part of the class, but I show up regularly enough to be called an honorary music theorist.) Since every other question on the AP seems to include an anacrusis (it's like a couple notes before the song actually begins, a pick-up, if that makes any sense), she decided to draw a penguin, because we all love penguins, with a music note attatched to its forehead. Maybe I'll take a picture of it tomorrow to show you guys. We hung it up on the wall of the chorus room so that everybody could see the Ana Penguin! It was really cute and we showed our half/semi/i-don't-know retired chorus teacher who I think is now officially an "in house composition consultant" or something like that the drawing of Ana and he really liked it. I swear, he's like this big jolly guy who reminds me of santa claus.
As you could probably tell from the randomness of what I've already written, this blog can be about anything. I'm probably going to write about small things that happen in my day to day life that I find amusing. Like how yesterday my class was talking about Aristotle and the teacher said "It's like masturbation for the mind." I died. I'm not even sure how I'm here to write this right now because I'm dead. I'm dead from that quote. It killed me.
Sooo... I would write about more random crap, but I can't because it is almost 2 am and I need to get up at 6 because I have a super yucky AM gym class because regular gym didn't fit into my schedule! Wasn't senior year supposed to be relaxed or something? I don't like having AM classes three days a week and having class after school four days a week!! I want to sleep and be lazy!!! Oh well... I guess that part's for after I get into college. ;)
Anyway, it is actually 1:48 right now so I really should be going to sleep. I have a strange pain in my right eye, probably because I'm tired.
Crap. I just started to get hungry. And now I'm not gonna be able to sleep because I'm hungry. So I guess I'll sneak downstairs to grab some food, and then I'll go to sleep. Ok. At this point I'm just rambling. Probably because it's 2 in the morning.
Good night.
-Lauren
